The Competition comes at a time when Adelaide is taking a fresh look at how the inner city of Adelaide functions, what its needs are and how decisions that impact the City’s future are made. In responding to the Site the Competition also represents an opportunity to engage with the City and with the State’s many ambitions for the City.

The Competition’s key objectives include:

  • Creating a civic and cultural place
  • Delivering best practice in sustainable design
  • Enhancing connectivity to the City and its context
  • Creating of public open space as an extension of the Park Lands
  • Respecting the Site’s cultural and built heritage through adaptive reuse and innovative new uses
  • Achieving an economically viable proposal that supports the East End Precinct, the City of Adelaide and South Australia
