The winning submission by Grimshaw , AECOM, PwC and tract Consultants

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) undertook an Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced design-led teams, from which a shortlist of three were chosen to participate in a single stage Property Master Plan (PMP) competition, for the airport and its precincts.

Working with and aligned to the key objectives of the Brisbane Airport Master Plan 2009, the PMP presented an innovative urban and architectural vision for the airport that is consistent with the airport’s development goals to 2029.

Expressions of Interest (EOI)

EOI were widely sought for this project. Submissions were requested from registered architects as lead consultant, however cross-disciplinary teams were encouraged, reflecting an appropriate skill-set to include expertise across such areas as: Architecture, Urban design, Commercial development, Landscape architecture, Circulation/way finding, Sustainable design, Social development. Three shortlisted teams were shortlisted to participate in a single stage competition over a seven week period, requiring the completion of a detailed PMP. Each shortlisted team received a fee of $40,000. Upon submission of final competition entry, the jury selected a winner. The winning team proceeded to work with BAC to further develop and refine the PMP by Dec 2011. In addition, the winner also developed a sketch design for a major ‘catalyst’ project following the competition, also delivered by Dec 2011.
